The Covell's (aka Coville, Covel, Covill), came to Maryland about 1635 Johnathan Covell brought with him from France, Maureen Duvall as an indentured servant, a gift from Louie the 16th(Sun King).He was awarded 2000 acres by Lord Calvert(Land Grant hangs in the library at University Of Maryland).
Joel O. Covell was the first to work for the B&O Railroad in 1826 retired as Superintendant abt 1860. His son William H.engineer, grandson Joel O.F. Sr retired engineer 55 years of service ,great grandson Joel O.F Jr.retired conductor,5th generation Grandaughter Lisa Rea Engineer for Western Maryland (first & only female), 6th generation Grandson David B.Corey Engineer, and 7th generation David J.Corey Conductor.
